"The longer Trixie stayed at the West Volusia Humane Society the thinner and more ill she got. Gloria [Director Thomas] was getting a lot of static from the volunteers, that is why she finally surrendered her to me. You know, out of sight out of mind. Also at that time Gloria really liked me (when I was so blind). It is sad that Trixie's life was wasted. I just remember all the animals that died needlessly the short time I volunteered."

Trixie was my favorite dog at the shelter. I volunteered there for many years. I personally asked Gloria if I could take her to the vet and get her medical help and Gloria would not let me and told me Trixie was ok. These photos broke my heart. I loved this dog so much.
